Use the (y₂-y₁)/(x₂-x₁)

Note: (x₁,y₁) & (x₂,y₂)

Choose two points, and make sure that each one you choose fits in the corresponding part of the expression.

(x₁, y₁) = (-2,0)
(x₂, y₂) = (0, -2)

Remember:

(y₂ - y₁)/(x₂ - x₁)

Plug in corresponding numbers

(-2 - 0)/(0 - (-2))

-2/ 0 + 2 (2 negatives = 1 positive)

-2/2 = -1

-1 is your slope (for every run 1, rise - 1)

hope this helps
