What is the difference between an organ and an organ system?

An organ is a collection of tissues that serves a purpose to an animal’s body (Yes, this includes humans). An example of some organs would be stomach, small intestines, and large intestines.

An organ system is a collection of organs, and with the organs I mentioned before, along with some others, make up the digestive system which is an organ system.

These tissues make up organs (so for example the heart is made up of many tissues). These organs then work together forming organ systems (such as the digestivesystem, which is made from organs such as the stomach, intestines and rectum) to perform a particular function.
