c.“It may seem strange that any men should dare to ask a just God's assistance in wringing their bread from the sweat of other men's faces, but let us judge not, that we be not judged.”
In this quote he says, it is strange that a person would ask God (who is just) to help him get bread (or any sustenance/wealth) from another man's hard work. He then says that we should not judge others for then we will be judged ourselves. This entire quote is an allusion to the Bible, both the Book of Genesis and Matthew 7:1. By saying that it is strange for one man to benefit from another man's hard labor, he is showing that he views slavery as an unfair institution.
