In electroplating, how should the object that will be plated be connected in the electrolytic cell?

The object to be electroplated is made the cathode, by connecting it to the negative terminal of the battery. And the metal with which you want to electroplate the object is made the anode, by connecting it to the positive terminal of the battery.
