Answer: two kinds of daughters, obedient and independent

Explanation: In "Two Kinds" by Amy Tang, what the title refers to is to two kinds of daughters, obedient and independent. The narrator's mother thinks that everything is possible in America, you can become whatever you wish. Her mother wants her to be a prodigy. The narrator only wants to be herself. Her mother says that there are two kinds of daughters, obedient and independent. In her house there is only room for an obedient daughter.
