Social scientists use the term paralanguage to describe "nonverbal vocal messages".

Paralanguage is a part of meta-communication that may alter or subtlety meaning, or pass on feeling, for example, prosody, pitch, volume, sound and so forth. It is once in a while characterized as identifying with nonphonemic properties as it were. Paralanguage might be communicated intentionally or unwittingly.
