Assumption and Explanation
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is not clearly stated but it is assumed that ABCD is a parallelogram.
One of the properties of a parallelogram is that the consecutive angles are supplementary. In this case, it will mean that ∠ABC and ∠BAD add up 180.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Form the equation and solve for x
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
∠ABC + ∠BAD = 180
(8x + 30) + (4x + 18) = 180
8x + 30 + 4x + 18 = 180
12x + 48 = 180
12x = 132
x = 11

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ans: x = 11

Angle B is the same as angle D, and angle A is the same as angle C since it is a parallelogram.
A quadrilateral's angles add up to 360º.
An equation that we could solve to find x is:
2(8x + 30) + 2(4x + 18) = 360
Distribute the parts in parenthesis:
16x + 60 + 8x + 36 = 360
Combine like terms:
24x + 96 = 360
Subtract 96 from each side:
24x = 264
Divide each side by 24:
x = 11
Hope this helps!
