Number of votes won by A = p
Number of votes won by B = 35
Number of votes won by B are 125% of the number of votes won by A. So we can write that 35 is 125% of p. In equation form we can translate it as:
35 = 125% of p
35 = 1.25 x p
p = 35/1.25
p = 28
So the number of votes won be A are 28.
