Answer: The surface area of the cube is 385 mm^2.

When we are finding the surface area of a shape, we need to add up all the areas of each face. In this case, there are 6 faces.

Each face is the shape of square with sides of 8 mm. So the area of each face is 8 x 8 = 64 square mm.

Since we have 6 faces, we will multiply 64 by 6 to get 384 mm^2 in all.
