For the first question, you know that Amy has 72 sweets in her bag, she keeps 1/4 of the 72 for herself, which is 72/4 = 18.

72 - 18 = 54. She will give 54 sweets and distribute them to her friends.

2. 150 people are on the train

150 x 2/5 or 60 people leave

150 - 60 = 90.

90 + 35 since 35 people get on the train again, 125.

There are 125 people on the train.

3. 4/7 • x = 48

84 dollars = x

4. 1/6 of 372 = 62

372 - 62 = 310.

310 - 62 = 248. There are 248 more red beads than blue beads.

5. Simply add up the fractions and say that 5/6 of total = 35, solve for total by dividing 5/6 fraction from 35.
