1) you have separated the figure into two rectangles and a square so we can find the areas one by one:

the area of the rectangles

3.5 * 14 = 49
there are two congruent rectangles so we multiply the number by 2

49 * 2 = 98
the area of the square

11 - (3.5 + 3.5) = 11 - 7 = 4 \\ \\ {4}^(2) = 16
the area of the whole shape:

98 + 16 = 114
the final answer is 114m^2
