Answer:

I would say that, the answer to the question: What two characteristics does this poem share with Romantic works, would be: A. An admiration for nature, and C. A sense of longing for rural surroundings.

Step-by-step explanation:

Romanticism was an artistic movement that influenced music, literature, poetry and art. Among the many things that characterized Romantic artists, we can find: the representation of strong, basic, raw emotions, an emphasis on the self, an almost reverent admiration for nature, and especially for places where nature overcame the noise and ugliness of industrialization. There was also an admiration for the child-like state, for imagination and for a life filled with simplicity, like that of the Middle Ages. Of all these characteristics of Romanticism, the two that stand out primarily from the excerpt are the ones in A and C, as the speaker clearly is in awe of nature, but also, shows a deep desire to move towards a rural setting where his tired heart can find peace within nature, the orchards, and the smell of the purer air. The description of nature, and the longing that can be felt for this rural place, is what gives reason for the answers being A and C.
