Answer:

The plane fall behind 30 seconds every fifteen minutes

Explanation:

If the plane was 16 minutes late, so the correct time of arrival was 8 PM

First we have to calculate how many periods of 15 minutes we have in the whole flight.

x= t₂-t₁

t₁=noon=12 hs

t₂=8PM= 20hr

So,

x= 20- 12=8 hours

We have 4 periods of 15 minutes every hour, so the total number of periods is the 8 hours of flight multiplied by 4

T=8*4= 32

Then we have to know how many seconds the fligth was late. That will be

16 minutes multiplied by 60 seconds by minute.

z= 16 *60= 960

We reach the final answer dividing all the seconds that the flight was late (z) by the number of periods (T)

y= z/T=960/32

y= 30 seconds
