There are three different energy supply pathways present in our body.
1. Anaerobic ATP-CP energy pathway: This energy pathway helps the sportsmen who take part in shot-put, weight lifting and discus throw. It helps in providing instantaneous bursts of energy.
2. Anaerobic Lactic (Glycolytic) energy pathway: This energy pathway provides energy for a duration of 1-2 minutes only due to the build up of lactic acid in the muscles causing a fatigue.
3. Aerobic energy pathway: The normally used pathway of oxidation of glucose to give energy requires a lot of time to metabolise itself. This energy system is mainly used by long distance marathoners and swimmers.
Anaerobic lactic (glycolytic) pathway y would be used during a one minute, steep climb.
