Glaciers begin to form when snow remains in the same area year-round, where enough snow accumulates to transform into ice.

Answer: The glacier begins to form when the snow remains in the same area year round where the snow starts accumulating to form ice.

Every year the same process repeats to form ice layer on layer. This process compresses the previous layer.

The grains of ice compacts and the air between the pores releases causing the snow to increase in density.

Over the time the larger the ice reaches several inches in length known as glacier.
