A psychologist reports that authoritative parents tend to have well-behaved children. before we conclude that parenting style influences children's personality, what should we check? are the results similar for older children? are the results the same in all parts of the country? are the results similar for less-educated parents? are the results similar for adopted children?

Yes, many factors must be considered before concluding that authoritative parents are effective in raising up well-behaved children. However, the fact that kids are able to submit to authorities at home give them that quality that can only be found in well-behaved children, the "submission" ability. If they are able to submit to their parents, they are able to submit to any authority placed on them.
