Dust swarmed over the dried cornstalks in the field by the cabin. Horses were coming. For a moment the woods beyond the cornfield whirled. Knobowtee walked between mounted soldiers into our small clearing. I stood at the cabin step, and the baby sat on the ground. I had seen white men when they came to trade. Sometimes they rode by the farm not seeing our path. Now soldiers were in the clearing with their rifles and bayonets. I heard their quick words, but I didn't know what they said. They seemed invisible inside their dark clothes. –Pushing the Bear, Diane Glancy Which sense does the imagery in this passage primarily appeal to? What emotions does the passage evoke?
