Defining politics only in terms of power, influence and authority is too restrictive. Discuss this assertion with aid of examples.

I'm studying politics and public administration.

Politics is best defined as who get what, when, and how. Politics is about the authoratitive allocation of resources.

It is agreed upon that all political conflicts are usually about a particular resource. Power and authority is needed to share these reources.

Politics is hence the study of government structures, ideology, processes and sytems that determines how the pie is shared out.

without these, the society would go back to the state of nature, where every man was for himself, and life was solitary, short and nasty.

It is thus restrictive to state that politics is about power and authority.
looking at all major world political conflicts, from palestine, to the middle East crisis, there is a strong resource undertone, from land to oil.
