When using snmpv1 or snmpv2, what piece of information is needed to view information from an agent?

SNMP stands for the Simple Network Management Protocol - an Internet Standard protcol for management of network devices.
When using SNMPv1 or SNMPv2 the community string is needed to view information from an agent.
This community string is an ID of the user which allows access to a router's or other device's statistics.
