Once the first world war ended in 1918 and Kaiser Wilhelm II had abdicated, Germany was at the mercy of the victors. Although its infrastructure did not suffer damages because the country was not invaded, the Treaty of Versailles condemned it to a harrowing economic situation. The obligation to pay constantly to France when they were not able to produce enough to survive and at the same time pay these debts, led to a huge inflation.

Fortunately the Germans achieved some economic recovery between 1924 and 1929. This started a political process, in which Germany began to form a nationalist government that in addition to seeking economic improvement and the exaltation of national values as well as, returning to be a world power.
