The bloodiest day in American military history
That is because there was over twenty two thousand casualties in that single day. The Union won the battle and Lincoln disliked the fact that McLelan did nothing when ti came to pursuing Lee who was retreating with survivors.This loss meant that not a single victory for the confederacy would exist on northern soil and was a turning point in the war.
