However, the first step in the information-processing model of memory is the encoding. Encoding, storage, retrieval.
Memory is the process that is used to acquire, retain, and later retrieve information. It involves three stages; Encoding; which involves processing incoming information so that it can be entered into memory; storage which involves maintaining information in memory for a period of time. Retrieval which entails accessing or recalling stored information from memory so that it can be used.
