Saliva is secreted by the salivary glands
and transforms the food into bolus. This is an example of chemical digestion.

Chemical Digestion:
Saliva contains an amylase enzyme,called pytalin, which breaks down starches into dextrose and maltose by adding a water molecule into the starch compound.
