tn = nth term
t22 = 22nd term
d = common difference
d = -8
n = number of terms
n = 22
.
tn = t1 + (n - 1)d
t22 = t1 + (n - 1)d
1008 = t1 + (22 - 1)-8
1008 = t1 + (21)-8
1008 = t1 + 168
1008 - 168 = t1
840 = t1
