A chess team has 26 members. However, only 16 members attended the last meeting: half of the girls attended but all of the boys attended. How many boys are on the chess team?

Answer:

6 boys

Explanation:

if all the boys(x) were at the meeting but only half the (y), you would have two equations : x+y=26 and x+y/2 = 16. Solving the system gives you 6 boys 20 girls.

26-16=10. So I believe it would be 10 girls and 6 boys.
