the answer is 8.24. First, add them all up. 5.54+ 2.49+3.73=11.76. Subtract 20.00 by 11.76 and you have 8.24. So, elliot should get $8.24 in changeĀ

First, you want to add up the subtotal together, so its 5.54+2.49+3.73, and adding those together you get 11.76 as your subtotal. To figure out change, you simply subtract your subtotal to the amount he paid in. For that it is 20-11.76, and that is 8.24
Elliot gets $8.24 in change.
Hope this helps.
