Hey there!
You have to cross multiply the proportions. So x x 9 = 9x. 6 x 12 =72. The equation you get is 9x=72. You have to isolate x, so divide each side by 9. You get x=8. Since x is by itself, the answer is x=8.

Multiply by 6 and simplify
.. x = 6*12/9 = 72/9 = 8
x = 8
