You are going to want to cross multiply this, so 5/9 would multiply with 1 and 2/3 would be multiplied by x. Now you have 5/9 = 2/3x. You would divide 2/3 on both sides and get 5/6. 5/6 is your answer.

Multiply the denominator by 3/2. The denominator is the bottom fraction

5
---
9
===
2 * 3
-- --
3 2
What this does is get rid of the fraction on the bottom. But you also have to multiply the 5/9 by 3/4

5/9 * 3/2
When you do this you get
15/18 Both can be divided by 3
