What is a cistron? 2)

a. if 2 different mutant rii phages are able to lyse
e. coli k (our lab manual's shorthand for k12(λ)) when they co-infect it, while neither mutant can lyse it separately, what can you say about the 2 mutations?

1. A cistron is a segment of DNA that encodes for the formation of a specific polypeptide chain; a structural gene.

2. The two mutations recombinant and reversed back to wild type.

The name of the test is Complementation test.
