The dog's behavior is an example of
"Generalization".
In psychology generalization means is the inclination to react similarly to various yet comparative stimuli. For instance, a dog which is conditioned to salivate to a tone of a specific pitch will likewise salivate with extensive normality in light of tones of higher and lower pitch.
