Hey there!
A verb is an action word. It can be something like run, jump, anything that's an active action or an expression of one. For the first one:
1) The verb is lifting. The man is completing the action of lifting, and that's the action he's doing. He's lifting the 400 pounds.
2) The verb is sleeping. Just like we said int he beginning, a verb is an action word, Although you're not necessarily completing any actions actively while sleeping, it's still something you're doing.
3) The verb here is hurrying. When you think of hurrying, you probably think of running, or rushing-- and that is exactly what they're doing here. The action is them rushing.
3) The verb here is will. It's not an action here. However, if we follow AVP (action, verb, predicate), we realize that it's the verb for the pizza. It's expressing the future tense- the event- that's happening to the pizza.
Hope this helps!
