4/5 is greater. All you need to do is find a common denominator for both. 9 and 5 are factors of 45. you multiply both the numerator and the denominator by 5 five to get 35/45 which is equivalent to 7/9. and you multiply both the numerator and the denominator by 9 to get 36/45 which is equivalent to 4/5.

Alright. First you would want to find the common denominator of 9 and 5. This is basically a common multiple of both of these numbers. In order to do this, you multiple 7/9 by 5/5 and 4/5 by 9/9. Remember, what you do to the denominator, you also need to do to the numerator. So you get 35/45 and 36/45. Now, just compare the numerators. 36 is obviously greater than 35, so 36/45 is greater which is also 4/5. This makes your answer 7/9 < 4/5
