Africans began their forced journey to America in the early 1600s. Their work was mostly needed in one particular area due to the large labor force demand. Where did the African slaves settle into plantation life?

The slaves were brought to plantations in the Southern states such a as Georgia, North and South Carolina, Virginia. They were forced to farm the fields and the most popular crop was cotton. Africans were chosen because they had a high tolerance for heat and were physically superior because the south was hot and the work was extremely demanding.
