2a = 0.5b + 1.1
b = 3a + 0.1

substituting for b in first equation:-
2a = 0.5(3a + 0.1) + 1.1
2a = 1.5a + 0.05 + 1.1
0.5a = 1.15
a = 2.3
and
b = 3(2.3) + 0.1
b = 7
