How do you know that forces are balanced when static friction acts on an object?

1) When static friction acts on an object it is not moving, so its acceleration is zero.

2) In virtue of the second Law of Newton, F = mass * acceleration, since the acceleration is zero, the net force is zero.

3) Zero net force is the result of forces balance, so you can conclude that the forces acting on the object are balanced.
