We know that:
1- 3/4 of their price together is $31.5
This means that:
3/4 (x+y) = 31.5 ............> equation I

2- original price of blouse is $18.
This means that:
x = 18 .............> II

Substitute with II in I and solve for y to get the original price of the blouse as follows:
3/4 (x+y) = 31.5

3 (18+y) = 31.5 * 4
