Fever, 1793 is a novel written by Laurie Halse Anderson which deals with the story of a fourteen-year-old girl called Matilda "Mattie" Cook who comes of age during the infamous yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia in 1793. Mattie is described as a normal teenager.

A tide of panic and fear raged the city and she experienced intense personal loss and came face-to-face with death.
