Actual distance = 124 miles
Distance on map = 4 cm
Scale factor = 4 cm : 124 miles
Divide through by 4
Scale factor = 4 cm/4 : 124 miles /4
= 1 cm : 31 miles
The scale factor is
1 cm : 31 miles
