To solve this problem, Uuse the quadratic equation:
(-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/2a,
where
a = 2
b = -1
c = 10
Solve:
(1 +/- sqrt(1 + 4*2*10))/4
(1 +/- 9)/4
The two solutions are
10/4 = 2.5
(1-9)/4 = -2. The correct answer is f.
