Steam locomotive engine

Rail train locomotives were first powered by steam. Great Britain began the technology for rail cars powered by a steam engine. The steam engine proved strong enough to pull rail cars increasing the speed and efficiency of transportation in Great Britain, then the US, and later all across Europe. Steam engines were first used in the US in boats allowing for better transportation up and down rivers. This technology was eventually adapted to the new technology of trains as well as adapted for factories and machinery.
