It is approximately 2 kcal/g. Sugar alcohols commonly found in foods are sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, isomalt and hydrogenated starch hydrolysates. The are obtained from plants such as fruits and berries. The calorie content of these sugar alcohols ranges from zero to three calories per gram compared to four calories per gram for sucrose and other sugars.
