The correct answer is the resistance stage.

In 1936, the endocrinologist, Hans Seyle, proposed a theory know as the general adaptation syndrome (GAS). This theory describes the physiological responses that occur as a result of stress. According to the GAS model, stress occurs in three stages known as the alarm, resistance and exhaustion stages. In the resistance stage of stress, the body tries to cope with stressors by trying to maintain regular heartbeat, blood pressure, etc. During the resistance stage, a person ultimately starts experiencing fatigue and irritability.
