The correct answer is B) With both concave and convex lenses, the characteristics of the image depend on the placement of the object.
We can have a look at the lens equation:

(1)/(f) = (1)/(d_o)+ (1)/(d_i)
where f is the focal length of the lens,
d_o the distance of the object from the lens and
d_i is the distance of the image from the lens. As it can be seen from the formula, the distance of the image depends on
d_o, the placement of the object.

The same is true for the magnification, i.e. the size of the image (
h_i) compared to the size of the object (
h_o), which is given by

M= (h_i)/(h_o) - (d_i)/(d_o)
As it can be seen, this quantity depends on the placement of the object as well.
