In Mr. Sheldon’s physical education class, each student plays at most 1 sport.

A total of 20 students play soccer or basketball.
Given that 1/3 of the students play soccer, and 8 play basketball, how many students in Mr. Sheldon’s class play neither soccer nor basketball?

I have no idea how to calculate. I will reward the right answer along with explanation of how it was figured. (I attached a pic of the multiple choices) Thanks!

20 students play soccer or basketball and 8 students play basketball, then 20-8=12 students play soccer.

Given that 1/3 of the students play soccer you can conclude that 1\3 is equal 12 student, then in class totally are 12*3=36 students.

36-20=16 students play neither soccer nor basketball

Answer: Correct choice is B.
