Peasants demanded higher pay. There was also an increased awareness of health.Malnutrition, poverty, disease and hunger, coupled with war, growing inflation and other economic concerns made Europe in the mid-fourteenth century ripe for tragedy.

Basically the economy started to die out because people were freaking out about the plague, because back then there was no cure to it so people knew when they got it they were basically dead.
