1 yd = 3 ft

10 yd = 10 * 1 yd

10 * 1 yd = 10 * 3 ft

10 yd = 30 ft

The 10-yard piece is 30 ft long.
Then you add to it the 5-foot long piece.

30 ft + 5 ft = 35 ft

Answer: He has 35 ft of wood.
