The use or formation of words whos sound is intended to imitate the action or sound they mean.
Ex. Splash, Boom, Bang, Pow, Pop

An onomatopoeia is
the formation of a word, as cuckoo, meow, honk, or boom, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent.
