for the past hour, olive observed the license plates of the cars passing by her house she saw 120 from New York 355 from New Jersey 88 from Pennsylvania 2 from Maryland and 1 from California if 3000 cars drive by her house today how many can we expect will not have a New York license plate

First you want to figure out how many cars came by that day. 355+120+88+2+1=566. So 120/566 have a license plate from New York. Which means 120/566=x/3000. x = 638.3.

(446)/(566) = (2364)/(300)
you have to cross multiply and devide so the answer would be 2364
