Let the numerator be x and denominator be y

original fraction = x/y

numerator decreased by 50% = 0.5x

denominator decreased by 25% = 0.y75

new fraction = 0.5x/0.75y = 2/3 (x/y)

new fraction is 2/3 of the original fraction. It decreased by 1/3

1/3 x 100 = 33%

Percentage decreased = 33%
