Social--youth culture v. traditional culture; temperance v. bootlegging; "native" Americans v. foreign influence/minorities; urban v. rural.

Economic--regulation of the economy v. no regulation; unions or not

Religious--fundamentalism v. modernism (secular thinking)

The 1920s presented a time of change and the US was polarized on the ideas of the time. Should we return to a time of "normalcy" (before WWI) or should be keep going forward and progressing?
